This week we’ve been celebrating learning, growth, and community in the best ways:
🎄 The Grinch stopped by to spread some holiday fun and smiles for our students.
🏆 We hosted a PBIS Reward Day, and our students showed exactly why they earned it—great choices and great attitudes!
🤝 Our Adopt-a-Class community partners visited classrooms to teach students about different careers and inspire big dreams.
🌟 A huge congratulations to Mrs. Childers, who was recognized as Teacher of the Week on Channel 12—so well-deserved!
📌 We also welcomed central office visitors who spent time with students goal setting and talking about what it takes to grow.
📈 And speaking of growth… we’re proud to share positive i-Ready growth in both reading and math across every grade level!
🧪 Our 6th graders have been hard at work, too, creating parachutes for an egg drop experiment, using creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving.
👏 And a huge THANK YOU to all of our parent volunteers who came in to help this week! Your time, support, and partnership make a real difference for our students and staff—we appreciate you so much.
We are so proud of our students and grateful for our staff, families, and community partners who make Newport Intermediate such a special place. Great things are happening here every single day! ❤️🖤🐾

We want to continue to keep open lines of communication at Newport Intermediate School. The best way to do this is through our Newport Independent App. This app includes the ability to message and receive notifications instantly from your child's teacher.
Please use the links below to learn more about downloading and accessing the app. If you need help getting this set up, you are more than welcome to come to the school and someone will be happy to help you!

Thank you,
NIS Admin & Staff
This year, we are especially grateful for the teamwork, the trust, and the shared commitment to helping every child succeed. Together, we are building strong systems, stronger relationships, and even stronger opportunities for our students.
This month we are especially thankful for experiences we gain through the Adopt-A-Class partnerships, NKU basketball games, PBIS parties, Principal Advisory Elections, Turkey Dinners in the cafeteria, Student of the Month Nominations, and 67 DAYS OF SCHOOL!
We hope everyone has a safe, warm, and joyful holiday season. 🍂✨

Family Holiday Poster Contest! 🎨✨
Families, keep an eye out — students are bringing home a piece of posterboard either today or tomorrow to work on over Thanksgiving break.
Your family can turn that posterboard into a festive poster celebrating any December holiday you enjoy — Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Las Posadas, Nochebuena, Three Kings Day, New Year’s, or your own traditions.
Use anything you already have at home — glitter, beads, ribbon, tinsel, buttons, stickers, fabric scraps… anything goes!
Please send the finished posters back after break so we can fill our hallways with everyone’s creativity and holiday spirit. ❤️

We will nominate a student of the month from every homeroom, every month! Be on the lookout for next months group of wonderful wildcats!

Our 3rd graders proudly performed the Star-Spangled Banner, with students from NPS, at the city building this morning, and their voices filled the lawn with pride and joy 🎶
Later in the day, our 3rd and 4th grade students had the incredible opportunity to meet author Shawn Pryor, who inspired our young readers and writers with his stories, creativity, and passion for books. 📚✍️
We are so proud of our students and grateful for the experiences that help them shine both inside and outside the classroom. 🌟

You are invited to participate in the FRC Advisory Council meeting on September 12th! Please see the flyers below for more details. Thank you!

Our 21st Century After-School Program begins on Tuesday, September 2nd. If you are interested in signing your student up for club, please reach out to your Site Coordinator(s) to get registration forms. Once you have returned your form to the correct school, you will receive a call from the Coordinator to confirm your students spot in the program.
Our program at NIS is from 2:45-5:00pm. All students start in the cafeteria and receive an after-school snack. After snack, students participate in WIN (What I Need) time, which is academic based, focusing on skills and lessons that students need additional support on. After WIN Time, students participate in a variety of enrichment activities such as Cooking Club, Athletic Adventures, Coding, Building Club, Outdoor Adventure Club, and more! Dismissal is at 5pm.
Please remember that attendance is very important for both our students and our program. Students must attend at least 3 days of programming each week. If your student is unable to attend club, you must let the front office, or the Site Coordinator know by 12pm that they are not attending club.
Reach out to your Site Coordinator(s) if you have any questions!
