The Jazz Educator's Big Band (JEBB), performed at the Newport High School Auditorium today
for an audience of Newport Intermediate and High School students. Made up of retired music educators from across the region, including two of Newport's own, Mr. Bob Adams and Mr. Ken Foltz, the band played a selection of big band classics, as well as jazz arrangements of songs from popular children's television and movies.
Students in the audience were treated to a surprise as their own music and band teachers, Mr. Donnie Robbins and Ms. Victoria Agosto-Gonzalez, took the stage and performed along with JEBB for a few numbers. JEBB hopes to encourage and inspire students to participate in their school bands through exposing them to live instrumental music.
Thank you to JEBB for a wonderful show and for all the support from school administrators and staff in preparing the auditorium for the show, as well as coordinating transportation and scheduling for the event!
